But the problem then maybe that I run out of disc space on my MacBook, so will have to spend lore time deleting duplicates. Is there a quicker way of doing this? I've also downloaded a load of ads to another Mac which seems to have found a lot more missing stuff. But on there I have to search each missing song manually then enable it to be played by iTunes library. I've been since early February trying to get apple music to download, nd have now found a "recovered items" folder. I was trying to restore from backup and pressed the wrong button which wiped the removable hard drive! I bought a disc recovery programme which has helped and recovered most of the tunes but it's a one task doing it manually as my library is over 25,000 songs. Thanks for that, the big problem is I found the original library was accidentally deleted after I downgraded the IOS. Anyone else got any ideas? I'm at my wits end wasting nearly 6 months trying to finish downloading my songs. that has track "waiting" even though it used to be possible to play it in full from the desktop machine. There's things like a Simon 7 Garfunkel album "Bookends" copied from a bought CD to the desktop machine. some of the songs now play, others are still waiting. Those now show on the cloud as downloaded! So with hope I one to music, library, add library>MP3. I tried a couple of songs on there and they played via QuickTime then player. The other day I done a search in "finder" for MP3, and that found all the restored stuff. I had all the tunes on another Apple machine but even that now has songs waiting! Absolutely nobody at Apple seems to have a clue how to cure the problem. I've tries all the other solutions, turn iTunes on and off, deleting library etc. One partial solution has been to download the equivalent songs from the iTunes Store for free, but then I have to keep paying Apple to use them. I've had the best part of 5 solid days on the phone to the Apple help desk and I still have about 5000 songs which are "waiting". It has taken since January to try to download all my music again, about 23,000 tracks including very rare recordings which I didn't have baked up anywhere else as my previous backup disc got stolen. However I bought some software that recovered the lost files and music. I had a bit of a disaster back in January when I downgraded fro Catalina to an earlier iOS, and pressed a wrong button on my backup drive and lost most of the backup.
